[MW:16881] Diff b/w Pressure retaining & Non pressure retaining Fillet welds

Dear Experts,

 

Kindly provide an explanation with examples, Regarding the difference between pressure retaining & non pressure retaining fillet welds.

The socket welds in small bore piping is an example of Pressure retaining fillet weld. The pad (for shoe support in piping) fillet weld is a non pressure retaining fillet weld.
