Dear experts,

Kindly advise if any code or standard specify to use pressure chart recorder for piping spools hydrotest.

The client asking to use it although it is not mentioned in the approved procedure/ITP.

Please advise.

Pressure chart recorder is normallly used in buried pipelines morethan 10% of its length

If you have agreement with enduser then recorded mandatory.As per ASME codes recorder not mandatory.

It depends on the project requirements. In our current project, we are using a hydrotest pressure chart recorder for both above-ground and underground lines, as per the specification requirements.

If the company requires it, this should be clearly stated in the agreement and hydrotest specification, because it is not only for recording purposes but also involves additional cost.

Please convey this to your Quality Management team; they will decide as per the agreement.

Dear Experts,
Chart recorder are used only to keep evidence records for future reference. If it is not mentioned in client spec & in the approved procedure, you may strongly take up with client to avoid it.
