Dear Experts,

Please share information with regard to Re-Certification requirements of ASME Sec VIII Div 1 & 2.
Our company is organising to have this done in Mar'13.

Do we require any ongoing Pressure Vessel for Re-Certification or any previous completed Vessel in 2012 can be considered for Re-Certification.

I appreciate if you have a built guidelines for the same to share...

Thanks & Regards
Vino - Doha

Dear vino

Yes u have to demonstrate for re certification of ur certificates. Some of the points are mentioned below for your ref
(1) if u r going for U stamp re certification make sure tht u have ur ndt sub contractor level appointment letter in place .u have to demonstrate on any on going jobs or if u do not have any order then u have to make a demo vessel. U have to demo atleast two joints to be on the b on the safer side. Make sure tht u organise ur design sub contractor to be present during the audit nd ifbthe design is in house then ensure tht all the mechanical design are signed off by the authorised person only as itbis mentioned in ur manual. Please concentrate on ur wps nd pqr thtnu have qualified nd used for the job which u have already finished. This would be the most imp section then comes ur material section . Please go through the material part thourghly.

(2)  i f u r a U2 certificate holder then please ensure that u get the uds nd mdr certified for the demo design. U don't have to fabricate a vessel for this.

(3) make sure tht all ur ndt procedure are approved by ur appointed level lll nd accepted by company person as mentioned in ur manual

I hope these points will help u to initially start of with. Please keep consulting ur authorised inspector for any query nd this can only be cleared with a good team effort nd management support. Well can I no who is the team leader who is going to audit u

Regards

Nitin

Dear Vino,

You need to demonstrate real hardware. Past records will demonstrate only one chapter of your ASME Quality Control Manual, ie, Record retention.

Since you have Div 1 & 2, you should demonstrate both codes.
1. Div 1: Actual vessel or demo vessel along with calculation
2. Div 2: A set of design calculation with drawing, uSER Design specification +Manufacturers Design report + Material purchase specification
