Dear Experts,

Please, i ask if have any code or standard can explain the limit of the acceptance criteria of piping branch connection. Therefore, which standard allow the connection pipe to pipe ( without sockolet and weldolet) ?

Your question is basically for type of branch connections.

 

Branch welds in piping are basically of following category.

 

1. Pipe to Pipe without RF pad

2. Pipe to Pipe with RF pad

3. Pipe to Equal/Unequal Tee

4. Pipe to O’let (Weldolet, Sockolet, Latrolet etc.)

 

Normally this kind of requirements is included in Project Piping Material Specification under the branch table of individual piping classes/specs. This branch table is made with the help of calculations as per ASME B 31.3.

 

You may also check some PIP (Process Industry Practices) standards for further details.
