Hi Everybody,

Can anyone tell me the required thickness for X-ray penetration of carbon steel and DSS materials as per EN/ISO/ASME codes? Please refer to the relevant code/ standard.

Penetration level: As per EN/ISO 17636-1

For CS:    ~30-200 mm (X-ray -1-4MeV Class A) ;   ~50-180 mm (Class B- Inspector training).

For DSS: Same above range as a base and to meet IQI.

Penetration level: As per ASME sec. V

For CS: No Specific limits. X-ray energy and technique to achieve required penetration and IQI sensitivity up to job thickness.

For DSS: Same above and to meet IQI for the thickness used.

Sridhar.
