Hello there,

kind of weld (geometry), where exactly and what materials are going to
be welded, i dont think that anoyone can propose you anything....
dont you have other welds on the the crane ???

Hi

I would like to detail a routine repair procedure:-

Get your materail PMI (Positive Material Identification) done in order to know what materail it is!

Next step is to prepare a repair WPS, look if you have original WPS for the same joint, if you have, your life is easy..

Else you have to prepare a new WPS, Information like (material grade, thickess, position etc..) is needed to explain exactly whether Preheat,PWHTand which process, filler metal would be required.

Try to see if the Crane part can be repalced, usually it's not a good practice to weld these, u can endanger lives of people if it doesn't work well.

Mr. Manpreet

Can you quote any reference standard or code where limitiations of repair of crane booms are given.

I need to repair a sliding boom portion of P&H Omega-20 crane. Where the sheet has broken just after the penetration weld. I want to check if I can build up in that portion with some suitable WPS.

Your help would be highly fruitful.

Dear Gents,

In my opinion the first step is to contact the manufacturer of this crane in order to provide the original WPS used.
