We have noticed multiple crack during the replica check in the control valve body ( Material A 217 Gr WC6 , size 2 " X 2500 RTJ, H2 service) during the fire incident at our Hydrocracker plant. We would like to carry out the repair jobs for the same,
Kindly share your experience and also advise whether advisable or not. Also share the WPS and cautions to be followed if repair performed by anyone in the group.

Subject: Re: [MW:9049] Repair of Body cracks for A 217 Gr WC6
Dear Vinod,
Thanks for the valuable suggestions. Looking to the risk involved and the time period required to carry out the repair we have decided to put in a globe valve to control flow temperorily (as process allows for it) and to procure new valve body.
Thanks again,
Vinod

Vinod,
I would say that was a wise discussion. Although I had dropped a few lines on safe welding practices as per API -510, later after browsing through API-579(Section-11, Assessment of Fire Damage ), I realized that a lot more things are desired for proper assessment for any fire damage , then only any welding/ refurbishing should be thought of.
It would be a good idea to get some heads up from API-579 on such damages in future . There're are some typical examples on assessment of fire damages of various plants and equipments in this API/ASME book.
Thanks.
