How much welding to be finished

Dear All,

Welding can be stopped ( Carbon Steel Material )How much percentage of welding finished.

I remember 33% to be completed at a time with non removal of slag.

Can anybody guide me to provide code reference.

Carbon steel is not a problem, but alloy steel or high strength steel, minimum 6mm or 1/3 of thick before stopping welding
