Dear Sam

Refer Para 8.1.2.2 and 8.1.2.3 in API 650.

It clearly states about the location and number of radiographs in tank.

thanks to all.
just little doubt.

our bottom shell course requirement is 10mm as per drawing but plate shows more than 10mm actually say 10.5 mm. then do we need to apply RT criteria for more than 10 mm or not ?

Dear mr sam

You can refer the api-650 clause 8.1.2.2 a&b and 8.1.2.3 as mention on this paragraph only spot RT for vertical & horizontal in the 1st 3mter and we use the standard in aramco for intersection joints on top angle to shell.

Mr. Sam,
Review the MTC of plate material and tolerance of specific heat / lot number and then identify the thickness of the lowest shell course thickness.

For lowest shell course, one spot radiography on every vertical joint.

Hope this will clarifies your doubt.

In my view, 25%of total intersection/tee joints .

However if we take 100% RT in Tee joints. No need consider intersection.
