Hi,
You have not mentioned, which code you are following
for your production/fabrication weld.
In API 6A para 6.3.2.7 -  welding controls specify as below:
" Instruments to indicate temperature, voltage, and ampearage shall be serviced and calibrated in accordance with the manufacturers written specification"

dear mani,
All welding machines should be calibrated by yearly basis or 6 months
once or as per manufacturer procedures.its mandatory things in
welding, why i am telling this for example,
in wqt, or pqr or any other documents we need to submit calibration
certificates for all equipments.

I don’t think submission of equipment calibration cert. is stated in any welding code but it’s a norm/good practice before WQT or PQT or any work requiring such equipment is carried out. It is always stated in any good quality contractual document. Moreover, It is one of the QC preliminary requirements before welding will commence including the voltage/current/temperature measuring devices.

Please refer BS-7570, which is specifically dealing with wedling machines calibration.

Thanks

Calibration of welding machines are required if you want to control the welding heat input. Heat input is required to be controlled when you are welding materials which are designed for low temperature and you are using a WPS/PQR qualified with impact tests.

Impact properties are affected due to heat input.

So you decide, what to do.

Control the heat input by controlling Voltage(V) / Amperage(A) and Travel speed.

To control V & A, you need calibrated Welding machines.

So if you want to weld low temperature materials or even materials which are required to be impact tested due to MDMT, you need to calibrate the welding machines, so that heat input is controlled.
