This is required during scraping the pipeline by the inspection instrument scraper / Calliper Run.

Dear all,

6mtr is the minimum length requirement for the pup piece,

But using 6 mtr pup piece in every 1 KM of pipe line is not a requirement (or mandatory), and any client will not recommend also ( As per my previous experience)

Request you verify / provide the spec of the client if available.

Thanks & Regards

hi limesh,

In Mexico the subsea pipelines is for the divers inspection, mfl
ispection, etc. and the lenght is due to the standard pipe´s lenght
(40') you just have to cut the pipe in the half, and then you have a
double joint.

the NRF-013-Pemex-2005 says:

Carrete de monitoreo.- Tramo de tubería con una junta de fabrica en su
parte central y que sirve para
identificar las lecturas de los diablos instrumentados.

"pup monitoring .- Section of pipe with a girth weld made in its
central part and serves to
identify pigs instrumented readings."

best regards.
