Dear All,

I want to clarify below mentioned case for which I would like to have your valuable comments:

Case: clad equipment - Base material- CS (P1) 25mm thck,
clad material -- SS 316L , 3 mm thck,
clad provided for corrosion, not included in the design calculation

Welding qualification carried out separately: 1) for base material CS (P1)  2) for restoration of cladding overlay procedure done on CS(P1) for 316L weld.

Are these WPSs okay as per QW-217 (b) requirements?

Unfortunately, our ASME AI doesn't agree with me about the second one WPS which cladding overlay with 316L filler material on CS(P1). He says we should prepare WPS for cladding 316L filler material on SS(P8) instead of CS(P1).

What do you think about it?
