Gents,
What all are the practical issues if someone has welded low temperature A333 Gr.6 pipe with wrong electrode E7018 instead of E7018-1.

Regards
Richard

Hi Richard,

What is the design temperature ?   what was the impact test temperature for PQR qualification vs. the AWS classification used E 7018/E-7018-1?

Usually these electrodes are manufactured to meet dual certification i.e,7018/7018-1 and are tested for impact @ -45Deg C. If such electrode is used for production weld then no issues.

Otherwise E-7018(certified for impact @-29 Deg C) is not matching to SA 333 Gr6 (guaranteed impact -46 Deg C) base metal.

Thanks.

E7018 is not suitable below minus 29deg. Use only E7018-1 which is suitable up to minus 45
