Dear Pramod,
Normally for hardfacing electrodes, there is no AWS codes and all. As you know well, depending upon the applications, wear factors and base metal history, we will select and recommend the suitable hardfacing electrode. Moreover, achieving the hardness of 55 to 60 HRC by hardfacing electrode can be done even with single chemical element. It doesn't matter. But, the weld metal chemistry (chemical composition), weld matrix, dilution and welding process are very very important to provide the expected wear resistance, prolong the service life, reduce the downtime of the base metal. We have to always analyse the applications and wear factors in all the aspects.
1. Abrasion. 2. Erosion 3. Corrosion 4. Heat Oxidation 5. Cavitation. 5. Impact. 6.Friction.
According to application, wear factors, base metal chemistry, & required wear resistance,
the weld metal chemistry should be. So, only for hardness, we could not say the chemistry.
But, instead of AWS codes, for mostly all hardfacing electrodes, we have DIN standard.
