Dear All

What is the ASTM/ASME equivalent of structural material S355J2+N (minimum yield strength 355 MPa, Tensile 470 to 630 MPa, C: 0.20 max, Si: 0.55 max, Mn: 1.60 max , CE: 0.45 max). A link to reference document stating the same would be much appreciated.

ABS Grade EH36
Also, ASTM A131 Gr.EH36

A516 Gr70 is ok to substitute.

Equillent material for S355JR+N  is ASTM A 572. But Y.S (345) and T.S is lesser than S355JR.

A36 doesn't have any Impact requirement, But S355K2+N is need an CVN@-40 deg cel.

It is NOT ASTM A36. A36 has specified tensile of 420 N/mm2.

S355j2+N is normalized supply condition material have impact cvn -40 deg..

ASTM A36 is as rolled material w/o any impact req

S355J2+N under EN 10025-2 need Normalized plus low temperature impacting test under -20 centigrade.

So If using ASTM A572Gr50,you have to ask additional techincals requirements (Normalized heat treatment,-20 Centigrade low temperature impacting test),then this A572Gr50 steel shall be equal to S355J2+N.

Also,ship plates A131 Grade DH36 and A131 Grade EH36 is also equal to S355J2+N and even better than S355J2+N.
