Distance b/w branch weld and pipe seem weld

What is the requirement for the distace between branch weld and pipe seem weld. 

Is the condition in attached photo accepted or not?

What is the code of construction?

Many codes do not address this issue.

If it is not prohibited by specification, then it should be acceptable.

Depends on code and specifications as I remember in B31.3 it is  5T( wall thickness of pipe*5).

Dear Mahmood,

          There is no clear quote for minimum weld distance length in ASME B31.1 Power piping standards, where there is minor guidance provided for a few locations as mentioned below:

1.    131 WELDING PREHEAT:

2.    Figure 104.3.1-1 Reinforcement of Branch Connections (Cont’d)

3. Table D-1 Flexibility and Stress Intensification Factors (Cont’d)

General Note: In the cross-country pipeline, to maintain a minimum weld distance length is so difficult in a position of mitre elbow. Your weld should have integrity as mentioned in the specs. Use any type of NDE.

Olets fittings welds shall be carried out by the approved WPS. If there is no condition mentioned in your contract. You can waive it.
