What is the difference between these two weld details??? 
And what about your comment on back chip 
Of these joints required or not.

In the picture share by you that is longitudinal/Vertical seam which shown the double grove that means if the Welding completed from outside backchip is required from other side(inside).

Thanks Sumit for response. 

But my question is i have attached two weld pictures. In one pictures it clear that double v shows in that back chip we do from inside but what about the single side pictures back chip required or not.

For single V groove not required back chiping if root weld done with TIG process. If SMAW process used for root weld, then back chip need because of penetration and slag issues.
