PQR -For P1-G1 TO G2

Dear Expert

I have query about PQR P1-G1 To P1-G2 ,

we have already PQR for P1-G1,now group number is different and also have Impact requirement,so is it mandatory to perform PQR for G1 to G2? please suggest .,

Hi Hasin,

 

You require a separate PQR to weld P1GR2 material on the basis of the existing PQR (P1Gr1 material).

Gr no is an essential variable for impact. Based on the contract or project specifications, sometimes one may have qualify PQR on the exact grade/specification etc.

 

However as a smart strategy, if one qualifies all the PQR's with P1 material with Gr1 -Gr2 combination most of the ASME code's welding requirements get well accounted for.

Dear Shaikh Hasin,

Yes. If impact is required, then GRoup No. becomes an essential variable. However, please check the PQR test coupon MTC. If that is dual graded covering both the groups, you may amend the PQR to mention both P1 G! and P1 G2.
