usage of 45 deg elbow cut from 90 deg elbow.

Dear All,
 
Please suggest if you can cut a 90 deg elbow and use as 45 Deg elbow is it acceptable practice and if so is there any code refered to such usage.

45° Elbows are available as standard items. Why cut a 90° elbow?
In case you cut a 90° elbow to 45° - the 45° elbow here becomes a non standard item.

When we required 55 deg or 60 deg elbow, we normally cut is from 90 deg elbow. Because these are not the standard item.
You can cut 90 deg elbow to 45 provided the dimension remain same as per ASME B16.9.

Dear Murthy,
obviously u can cut & use 90 Deg elbow to 45 Deg elbow according to site conditions (if u people are not existing at that time), but after cutting ensure that to make DPT at the bevel ends & lamination (UT) for those bevel ends of ur using 45 Deg Elbow.
