Dear friends,

As per our Valve specification, the TRIM shall be 13 CR.

The Vendor is offering A105 + 13% CR. The Vendor justify that 13 CR is an alloy steel with and combination of CS & Chromium 13%. That means A105 + 13% CR is 13 CR.

Is it right…..

Could you please explain to me the composition of 13 CR, 18 CR etc? Where can I find these details?

Thank you

Regards,

Sabir

13 CR & 13% CR are same. Hence, vendor claim is correct.

For your better understanding & proper drawing representation; ask vendor  how the facing of 13% CR is done on A105? And the same shall be presented on drawing.  Some times it is A276 TP 410  welded for seat ring on A105 valve. Or AWS A5.9 ER410. Both are 13 CR . In later case A105 + 13 CR presentation on drawing is acceptable.

13 CR is 13% CR & 18 CR is 18% CR.

All the chemical composition details can be found in ASTM & / or ASME standard.

Hope the above satisfies your query.

Thanks & Regards,
Dhwani Desai.
