Members,

Could anyone highlight the difference between the “Quality of steel”, if the steel is produced by BOF, and if the steel is produced by OHF.

I understand that, steel process by BOF is more energy efficient than the steel process by OHF. But my interest is in if there are any drastic difference in the quality of steel? Please share the views.

BOF is BasicOxygen furnace method of steel making while OHF is Open hearth furnace.

Quality point of view, Basic steel is better in impurity control while OHF may be inferior. OHF may be acidic or basic process. But in general, there is no oxygen used in it.
For more details, read any book on Steel making.
