Dear Friends,
What is the difference between 1 inch welding and 1 inch dia welding?
1 inch dia = 1* 3.14 = 3.14 inch. Is this right.
One full welding on a 42'' pipe is 42'' dia welding...is it right.
Thank you,
Regards,
Sabir

The
term Inch Dia OR Dia Inch is used for the quantity of
welding for the piping fabrication.
1 inch
dia/Dia inch = Size of the joint X No. of the joints.

inch dia parameter is used for ease of estimating man hours , costing etc. where as inch may mean inch thick of materials .
inch dia means phi x dia of pipe in nominal size in FPS system but again the costing , man hours , consumable estimation is also depends on the wall thickness ( schedule 160. XXS etc).
