Dear Experts,

I want to qualify some welders for alloy welding (P3,P4,P5A,P15E). But we don’t have alloy pipes. Can I do welder qualification test on CS Pipes.

IT depends on the Applicable code. Considering ASME Sec.IX, yes you can use. Refer QW-423 for more details.

If the welder is used for Welder Qualification of Base metals from P.No. 1 to 15F, then the Welder is Qualified to weld the Base metals of P.No 1 through 15F as per ASME Sec IX QW-423.1.
