Diameter is neither an essential, supplementary essential, nor nonessential variable for WPS qualification for common welding processes. Therefore, any groove weld qualifies groove welds for all diameters for the WPS.
Diameter is an essential for weldor performance qualification for those same processes. (see QW-353 through QW-357)
