Heard that current validity of 3 years will be changed to 5 years. Any such move similar to EN473 in the latest edition of SNT-TC-1A?

SNT-TC-1A 2006 Edition
Packaged with ANSI/ASNT CP-105
order # 2070

The first is Recommended Practice No. SNT-TC-1A: Personnel Qualification and Certification in Nondestructive Testing (2006), which provides guidelines for employers to establish their in-house certification programs. Since 1966, employers have used this industry-valued document as the general framework for their NDT certification programs.

SNT-TC-1A establishes the general framework for a qualification and certification program. In addition, the document provides recommended educational, experience and training requirements for the different test methods.

The 2006 edition of SNT-TC-1A is annotated so that users of the 2001 edition can quickly and easily locate new and updated material. The vertical lines in the margins of this document indicate that information in the text has been modified in some way.

Highlights of the 2006 edition include the following.

  • Limited certifications for Level II digital radiography, film interpretation, ultrasonic A-scan and digital thickness measurement are defined.
  • Magnetic flux leakage (MFL) is now a separate test method.
  • The electromagnetic testing (ET) method has been subdivided into four techniques, with specific training and experience requirements for each.
  • Level I and II recertification cycles have been increased from three to five years.
  • The "Recommended Training Course Outlines" appearing in the 2001 edition of SNT-TC-1A have been replaced by CP-105.
