Dear Friends
I would like to know whether Pneumatic Test of Reinforcement Pad for branch connection of Process Piping is mandatory as per ASME B31.3. I searhed but I could not found any paragraph in ASME B31.3.

Dear Mr. Jivan Dhamane,
As per ASME B31.3 Pneumatic test of RF pad is not mandatory, if there is any defect in RF Pad weld, during hydrotest of the main line you can find out because of the Hydrostatic pressure in main line.

| Dear Friends, In my Last fifteen years experience 2 times found in RF leakage( outer area welding not in stub to pad welding). why are we doing leak test for RF even though not mentioned in code. Any butt or fillet welds we can confirm leakage during hydro test but in RF pad outside welding soundness can't ensure during hydrotest. If any welding defects ( cracks) in pad outside welding, during process time due to temperature, vibration it will develop slowly. So there will RF pad compensation will fail , it will tends to failure. That'swhy we are doing leak test to avoid process time failure.
