Dear My Friends:

1.What is the last revision of NORSOK M-650,? actually I have Rev.3 2004. Is this the last rev?

2.is it correct to ask an international Inspection  company to evaluate  products of a producer to issue  NORSOK approval?  Can Inspection company issue NORSOK approval based on M-650?

3.what is the NORSOK std for approval  a  producer for A105 , A350LF2 , A182 F11,22 material?

Dear Kaz,

1)      Latest revision of M-650 is revision 4 – 2011 which you can download for free on www.standard.no . This specification basically only applies to the qualification of manufacturers producing Duplex SS, High alloyed austenitic SS, Nickel based alloys and Titanium and its alloys. For non-standard products it can also be used for the qualification of other manufacturers, for example for the manufacturing of heavy or complex products.

2)      Manufacturer of materials according to Norsok M-630 (in which most of the materials are included you named under point 3) need to have a certified ISO 9001 certification and an assessment certificate for the specific materials they produce under this qualification. Certificate should mention material type and scope (thickness range / size etc.) This need to be reviewed / certified by a Notified Body for materials used in piping and/or pressure vessels produced for the European market.

3)      The Norsok standard for the materials is M-630, latest edition 2010, in which data sheets are included for all kind of materials including their requirements.

For A105 this is MDS C01 rev.4, for A350 LF2: MDS C11 rev.4, and for A182 F22: MDS X05 rev.2

Material A182 F11 is not included in table 1 of Norsok M-630 and therefore in my opinion can’t be used as a material in cases where Norsok is included in the project requirements.

Met vriendelijke groeten / Best Regards,

Pls. see link to NORSOK:

http://www.standard.no/en/Sectors/Petroleum/NORSOK-Standard-Categories/M-Material/M-6503/

1.Here you will see that rev. 4, 2011 is latest one, and you can just open/download it from the site (ref. the link).

2. On same site you will see a “frequently asked questions”, that answers it regarding the qualification process and who accepts the QTR.

3. See the scope in M-650. It may apply for A105, if A105 is in critical service. But otherwise there are no NORSOK std. for qualification of “usual products” including A105, A350 LF2, etc.

regards

Kristian
