Dear Sir,

I have some queries  regarding welding qualification of ASME &EN Code.

Following queries as mentioned below:
1) can we use qualified  WPQR  as per ASME IXwith additional test as required in BS EN ISO 15614-1-2017+A12019 for design code PED.

2) How to decide the level 1 or 2 for welding as per BS EN ISO 15614-1-2017+A12019

3) Is it essential to mention both the test methods that is ASME & EN in lab test report?

4) welder qualification test carried out as per EN ISO 9606 -2019  under TPI. should required to qualify the same by notified body or can we use the same as per PED code 2014/68/EU annex I para 3.1.2.

We have already qualified WPS & PQR as per ASME Sec.IX with supplementary testing of Micro, Hardness, Impact & LPT. Can we use the same for PED.

Awaiting for your reply.

Thanks & Regards
Vivek

As per my experience, PED and EN shall be qualified separately.

They will not consider ASME qualifications and test results.

I have done All as per EN standard for previous project.

Expert shall correct my answer also.

என்றும் அன்புடன்,

Best regards,

One more very important point. Welding n testing has to be witnessed by NoBo.

You have to understand that PED requires to perform the tests requires by the relevant harmonized standards. PED does not require to perform the tests as per the Harmonized standards. Also the range of approval has not to be as per the harmonized standards. So if you have a PQR as per ASME IX you perform additionaly impact test, PT and macro and you are done

Shall be witnessed by NoBo or his authorized body
