Dear sir,
What is the quality wise difference between E-7018 ( BASIC LOW HYDROGEN) & E-7016 ( BASIC SODIUM LOW HYDROGEN).Can i use E-7018 insted of E-7016.
Where is the specific area of these two electrode
regards

Dear Sil,

E-7016 is use for high carbon to mild steel and unknown steel composition material, low sodium hydrogen suit to AC+,
E-7018 produce high quality radiographic welds, suitable for DC+,

E 7018 is all position electrode requiring baking/ heating for sound weld. E7016 is flat position welding electrode and does not require baking/ heating for sound weld.

Hi,

Both electrodes you may use and both require baking both are suitable
for all position and E7016 is costlier than E7018 and more over E7018
will give approximately about 15 / 20% volume of weld metal than E7016
as E 7018 has iron powder is mixed in its flux.

the main difference is iron powder in the coating for 7018. both electrodes are low hydrogen potassium type.

Both can be used, but deposition efficency in 7018 is more than 7016 due to iron powder
7016 is very familiar in japan as 7018 in india

HI
please refer ASME sec II part C FOR CONSUMABLES U MAY REFER ELECTRODE CLASSIFICATION AND REFER THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATION

E70 16 HERE 1 DENOTES ALL POSITION WELD AND IT IS A LOW HYDROGEN SO BETTER GO FOR REDRY TO REDUCE HYDROGEN INDUCED CRACK

Hi

E7016 Low hydrogen potassium

E7018 Low hydrogen potassium, iron powder:- Due to high percentage of Iron Powder, Weld deposit rates are higher.

Typical storage and drying conditions remains same for both electrodes.

You can go with E-7018 instead of E-7016.
The only observation you will get by 7018 is that , it has high deposition rate.
