Prequalification of WPS as per AWS D1.1 - PIPE TO PIPE BUTT JOINT(PJP)

Dear Experts

Please input your suggestions and comments for my condition below

Joint: Pipe to Pipe corner 45 degrees - Butt 

Size: 4" sch 40 astm A53

Standard: AWS D1.1

Application: Guard Rail

Welding Process: SMAW.

My question is whether prequalified WPS is available for this condition in AWS D1.1 if PJP is used. If available, please let me know with the reference. When I search I'm unable to find any reference with regards to diameter ranges for the prequalified WPS.

Dear Sham,

Please refer Fig 5.2 (Page#113 in AWS D1.1:2020 Edition) for the Joint details. Prequalified WPS can be prepared for this joint configuration.
