Subsitute of sail hard material

WHAT IS THE SUBSITUTE OF SAIL HARD FOR WEAR RESISTANT. IF I CAN USE SA 516 GR 70 INSTEAD OF SAIL HARD.

before you decide whether it can be substituted or not, first of all, please read far enough into your technical project specification.

besides the checking its mechanical properties and C content, please ensure the CEQ shall not exceed CEQ/PCM maximum. Occasionally, some client wants to make a restriction the content of phosphorus and sulfur.

I would like to suggest you to obtain client approval formally.

Equvalent material for Sailhard is HARDOX 400 450 or 500..
 
In some cases now a days people started using carbon steel plates with wear resistant liners as substitute for sailhard & hardox.. it basically depends on your application.
 
You can procure wear resistant liners separtely and you can fix/weld the same on carbon steel plates(A36 or IS 2062).
 
A 516 GR.70 is not equvalent to SAILHARD.
