Hi Firman,

See the attached article for your reference on PCM.This formula is a Japanese equivalent of IIW Carbon Equivalent formula. I would think this formula works better for HSLA or other micro alloyed steels, or typically for pipeline steels.

This article explains the pros and cons of all 3 popular formula for calculation of preheating temperature.
