Dear Expert

I am planning for CSWIP 3.1 program and I need some clarification as mentioned below:

1)      I am color blindness  and having ASNT level II certificates in 4 methods, my doubt is color vision issue will create problem for certification or in future.

2)  Whether I'm eligible for this prorgram.??

One of  the institute asking me to get eye certificate from eye specialist with Normal color vision and they cannot enrol my name as a candidate for this program indirectly i'm not eligible for the same.

Is it mandatory for CSWIP eligibility because I'm not facing any  practical problem while witnessing any of the method of NDT

kindly suggest.

Regards

Vishwakarma_jee,

There is difference between 'color blind' and 'inability to differentiate between shades of particular colors', like red-green differentiation, blue-yellow differentiation etc. Please google it in this regard.
Also see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_blindness

As far as I know, an inspector can get certified in almost all methods, except in the methods where the inspection involves evaluation of test results based on the colors like Liquid Penetrant Testing.

I know personally, a guy who has can not read ALL  'color contrast ishihara charts', but can recognise and differentiate between colors, identify traffic signals, drive the vehicles and worked as a MT/PT technician successfully.

Also, AWS allows to get certified for the persons with such 'disabilities' for their CWI exam. But in the AWS-CWI certification, the type of 'inability' it will be mentioned in a corner, I think.
You can search with the key word 'color blind' or something like that here http://www.aws.org/cgi-bin/mwf/forum_show.pl

Also see http://www.ndt.net/forum/forum.php?SearchDocs=color+blind&searchmode=AND&restrict=&forenID=&Date=0&OrderBy=date+desc&rpp=20&rppoffset=0

Please call TWI local office number to know about their certification in this regard.

PS: Since you are in Mumbai, I heard there is an Ayurvedic clinic who can 'cure' (?) this.
