In my knowledge & experience, as I would also like to share, Alloy 20 is the best suited material for sulphuric acid and is suggested by NACE RP. At higher concentrations I.e 98 to 100 % carbon steel also works fine provided the flow in the line is continuous. But in case of intermittent operations a phenomenon called hydrogen grooving takes place which has high potential of damaging the pipe and fittings. Also material selection depends upon the velocity with which the acid flows in the
