Back gouging

Dear experts,

We have Qualified WPS Sa516 grade 70 with GTAW +SMAW  with out back gouging.........my Question is can we weld a plate with Back gouging..??

Yes, you can do if it is only ASME , but check your client specification if your client specification calls for seperate welding procedure, prepare a WPS for the process by which you are going to do and incorporate both the single Side and  double side groove designs in  WPS submit for client approval.

Guys,

Check in ASME if back gouging is essential variable(perhaps not) for welding process used and then decide.
Usually adding back gouging it is accepted.
