Its as per your wps requirement and the required hardness. Please consult the electrode supplier or its data sheet.

Hi,
WC9 is SA217-WC9.P.Number-5A according ASME Sec.IX.
Welding variables for Hardfacing overlay shall be as specified in QW-250 for the applicable process.
If your construction code is ASME Sec.VIII,Div.1,please refer to UCS56 for PWHT requirements for the base metal. If needed it shall be done as per UCS56 after hardfacing overlay.

Thanks & Regards,

(Karthik)

Thanks Mr.Harish.
I am asking the details to prepare the WPS only.
Normally WC9 material is PWHT d at 700 Deg C.
I want to know Whether The Same thing can be followed for overlaying Stellite 6 material on WC9 Base material.

Hi Muniyandi,

What's the grade of stellite to be deposited??.Stellite is a brand originated from Cabot Corporation and now with Delloro Stellite, and it comes in various alloy grades such as Stellite -6, 12, 21 and on.... Stellite -6 is common, see the attached spec sheet FYI.

While depositing stellte in multiple layers ,its very possible to get cracks. If the deposition is in 2- or more layers its advisable to get a buffer layer, preferably with Nickel base alloys.

If the requirement is to deposit stellite on SA 217 WC9 base metal, then the PWHT requirements would be as per the design code. If the component is a valve and the design code is ASME B-16.34, then typically the guidelines of ASME Sec-VIII, DIV-1 would be applicable for PWHT of the component.

Thanks.
