 Dear All

I have a query as follows:

Project specification calls for A 672 class 22 Gr.C 60 carbon steel pipes, where as EPC contractor supplied &erected API 5L Gr.B pipes at site.

Now in order to waive this spec. requirement ( client also agrees), it is required to prove the equivalency of both CS.

does the substitution makes detrimental changes to the project piping (follows ASME B 31.3).

All of yours valuable feedbacks are highly appreciable,

 Thanking in advance

 Kumar.

Dear sunilkumar,

1. Main base metal compositn diff is you will not have Si in API 5L
pipe.
2 A672-C60/Cl.22 has excellent properties for high- pressure service
at moderate temperature.

Check folowing before submitte your proposal to client

1.Operating Temp for your pipe class
2.Welding WPS and PQR suitable for both materials
3.Both MTC available and certification should be same 3.1 or 3.2
should same.

in case of dis agrrement you can use high silicon electrode for API 5L
welding pipe.beacause both P1G1 and S1G1 are same.

regards,
mohd.
