Preheat requirement for EN10225 material

Gents,

Please advise for the minimum preheat recommended for EN 10225 S355G7+M & S355G8 + M Z35 steel grade materials for weld procedure qualification with SMAW process.

You may find an answer in EN 1011-2, since you are dealing with EN materials

You have to calculate the amount of preheat to the rules in EN 1011-2 as referenced by Georgios Dilintas, knowing the carbon equivalent of the steel, the combined thickness of the steel and the welding heat input. i.e. there is no a single figure answer. Also note that structural steels containing boron are in the market, which increases the hardenability of the steel and the rules of EN 1011-2 are not valid (are not conservative enough) for such steels.
