Eventhe model number is too hard! If it is critical to getting information, why isn't it written on the front. This HP Envy laptop has no such information. I am not going to pull the machine apart to look for this. All I want to do is run my HP non-wireless printer with my new laptop

Regrettably, some of us struggle with all this stuff. I want HP to send me a step-by-step guide to having their laptop work with the printer I have. I shouldn't have to have the skills of an IT grad to work this stuff out.

In Win10 -> add new printer -> add it manually .... old printer ... not on the list -> select connected port- Dot4_001 -> find HP LaserJet 1015 on the nenu list -> if thers is no 1015 then click "Windows Update" which under the right side of the menu list and waiting for its ending...... then go back finding again. It should be fine.

If it's not then click the "install from disk" which seats beside the "Windows Update" and point it to the folder where you download the 1015's driver. Don't to unzip the driverfirst which you downloaded.

Am I the only person that thinks that multinational corporations should not be relying on community forums to fix their problems. There is NO REASON why two HP products should not work with each other.

So I try to find to use the HP Universal Print Driver PCl5 (not PCL6 it won't work) and there's no such one on 1010's Win7 x64 drivers. Then i went to HP P2055's Win7 x64 driver and fount it, download and execute and assign a folder to extract to.

HP LaserJet 1010 is more than 10 years aged it's simple and effective and long life to use but i don't think HP has the responsibility for all new Windows system for it. If you think they should be then maybe one day HP will cut down the life expectancy of every new HP printers and shorten them to less than 5 years. Then there's nothing to worry about.

I have a canon Pixma g1010 printer that works perfectly with Windows10. I have a Macbook pro 2018 15" with MaOS Catalina 10.15.6. I connect the printer with a USB adapter and the printer is recognised.

I installed the driver package from the Canon site, added the printer and the printer status shows Idle, Default printer. When I gave a print command, the queue displayed printing and the printer led started to slowly blink and kept blinking. Then I got an error (sometimes 306 sometimes 311) and nothing.

The support page for that printer specifically disclaims MacOS support. That generally means the image generation (rasterizing) is done on the Windows computer, and the maker has decided not to offer a Mac compatible rasterizer.

At least according to the specifications at -g1010/specification, Mac is not supported fr this very printer model. You mentioned a driver package; which one? There are Mac drivers (for example) for a G1000, but whether these can be used at all in this case is another question.

Thats exactly what I am trying now. Installed virtual box. Now trying to setup a shared folder. The printer however is not being detected by the Virtual Windows. So trying to figure that out. But its ironic that I have to fall back on windows on an Apple device to get something working.

I have to setup a shared folder between MacOS and Virtual Windows. Install G1010 driver on Virtual windows. Get it to detect the printer. For printing - I shall have to convert all docs to PDF for printing else I shall have to load Office/or some other S/w for that.

Thanks. That is the next step.. Buying a new Mac compatible printer is not an option. It just takes up a lot of time to get all this going!!! Wish Apple could be more flexible or Cannon would make compatible drivers for Linux and windows. I m trying to get it setup through Ubuntu as well on Virtual box. Lets see which approach works.

Just an update. Finally managed to get the virtual machine Virtual Box Installed alongwith Windows 10. Downloaded the usb3.0 extension from VirtualBox.org. Printer detected in Guest OS and printout successful - Finally.

(To make a long story short: It did not work and then I decided to split the problem into 2: To try to print when the printer is connected via USB to the computer, and only when it works, to proceed to network installation).

I attempted to use the instructions provided here, but the printer did not print. Subsequently, I came across a video and modified the driver to hp LaserJet 1010 HB. Following this adjustment, I successfully printed from my Windows 11 Pro for Workstations computer.

Using the same LaserJet 1010 HB driver, I attempted the network solution by connecting the printer to the USB port at the back of the router (Asus RT-AC87U). I followed the instructions provided here, but unfortunately, the document doesn't leave the queue and the printer doesn't print.

As far as I know a Laserjet 1010 is a so-called Win-printer.

Win-printers don't have a fully capable render-engine build in, but rely on a software-engine, that is part of the Windows driver, to do the heavy lifting.

When you have it installed to a Windows computer you can share it to other computers as a regular Windows "Shared Printer", but attaching it to a non-Windows machine (like your router) that can't run the special driver just won't work.

At last, it's operational. The HP LaserJet 100 printer is connected to the Asus RT-AC87U router, and I can now use it from two computers (Windows 11 Pro over Wifi and wired Windows 11 Pro for Workstations).

Some batches of HP LJ 1010 have partly defective memory from the production. This issue have been treated in all Windows drivers for the printer up to the Vista including. But NOT in W7 drivers. Moreover the whole family HP LJ 10xx is not very much supported in W7. You may try forced/manual installation of another driver from the 10xx family. However the fastest and less time consuming approach in this case is to buy some Brother printer. Also much better support than HP these days.

I agree with Edward, check the drivers/firmware. Is it using drivers specifically designed for that printer, or did it pick it up as a generic PS or PCL printer. If the driver is PS, try PCL, or vise versa.

The printing in 25 second intervals could be because of low memory on the printer. It looks like the LaserJet 1010 only has 8mb of memory. You may want to play with the spooling settings in the printer driver properties. The computer is sending all it can, and then waiting for the printer to process, then sending more.

You can print blank pages or pages with a single character it will always be slow no matter what you will do in this case. If you have Linux machine you can use the printer with it as there are Linux drivers treating the memory defect.

[Ver.1.02]

- The modules for supporting the language have been updated.

[Ver.1.01]

- Windows 11 has been added as a supported OS.

- The failure that may disable installation when PC detects the printer before driver is installed is modified. (Windows 10)

Printer Driver:

1.[Windows 10/11]

Some of the settings (such as borderless printing) in the OS standard print settings screen are not valid. the settings in the Printer printing Preferences window are valid. Make settings in Printer printing Preferences when necessary.

2.[Windows 10/11]

Layout printing from the OS standard print settings screen may not be performed as expected in Some instances.

In such cases, open the Printer Printing Preferences window and change the paper size accordingly.

3.With Internet Explorer 11, a web site containing Japanese may not be printed properly. In Windows Update, update the OS and Internet Explorer to the latest version.

Download / Installation Procedures

1. Download the file. For the location where the file is saved, check the computer settings.

2. Double-click the downloaded EXE file to decompress it, then installation will start automatically.

Note:

A message may be displayed during the installation depending on the OS you are using, but continue the installation.

One thing about HP LaserJet 1010 is that it was released way before Windows 7, so trying to install this printer on a Windows 7 computer might be a little difficult due to compatibility issues. Luckily, there are other drivers from the same HP printer family that you can use to make LaserJet 1010 work on your Windows 7 PC.

I have successfully connected my hp LaserJet 1010 HB printer via USB cable to my TL-WR842ND v2 router. On a Windows XP PC i have installed the TP-LINK USB Printer Controller Utility and the LaserJet 1010 HB printer is available in the list of auto-connecting printers for use. And it all works well.

As you may see from screenshot, the TP-LINK USB Printer Controller Utility has found over network the mentioned TL-WR842ND v2 router and the LaserJet 1010 HB printer attached to it. Yet the TP-LINK USB Printer Controller Utility cannot auto-connect to LaserJet 1010 HB printer, and the printer is not actually listed in the list list of printers of available for auto-connection:
