If you forgot the security PIN, pattern, or password for your Galaxy phone or tablet, and cannot access your device, you may need to factory reset your device to be able to use it again. However, there are two precautionary features you can use to ensure you never get locked out again: you can use Samsung Find My Mobile to remotely unlock your device or the Smart Lock feature to keep your device unlocked. Make sure to set up these features so you can always access your device.
If you have enabled the Find My Mobile and Remote Unlock features before losing your PIN, pattern, or password, you will be able to use the following steps to unlock your device. However, your device must also meet the following conditions:
If you set the Smart Lock feature before forgetting your PIN, pattern, or password, you can take advantage of this feature. In other words, you can unlock your mobile device, and keep it unlocked, when one of its conditions is met. For example, if you have set your home as a trusted location, your device will detect the location and automatically unlock itself when you get home.
If you are still unable to unlock your phone or tablet, you can factory reset your device using the Google Find My Device website. Keep in mind that factory resetting your device will revert your device back to its original factory state.
If you have your phone but cannot remember your account details, there is still one last solution: visiting a Samsung Service Centre or your phone provider. With proof of purchase, they will be able to factory reset your phone. Keep in mind you will get access to your phone but any data on it will be erased. Please note if your device needs to be unlocked from Google device protection, it will be treated as out of warranty repair and charges may apply.
I have been using the lock screen pattern for a little over a year now and I always remembered it so it was no biggie. Today, literally out of nowhere, my phone asks me to enter a password. I have no idea why it asked me this, so I tried entering a variety of passwords. All it does is lock the phone for 30 seconds before I can try entering another password once I've had too many tries.
I have no idea what password it wants from me, I only have so many and I tried all of them. It says: "Use password after restart (before I restarted it said Use password to unlock screen), Your password contains at least 4 characters, including at least 1 letter." What password?! See, that's why I hate installing updates, this is just bull*****. I also tried to unlock my phone using Find My Phone and it does not work as it is not connected to the network (I tried restarting it before and I guess that screwed me now). I honestly don't even know if a factory reset would work at this stage, since it does not show any notifications either (apart from: Phone restarted, Unlock your phone to get app notifications).
Today all of a sudden my phone locks me out and is asking for a password. I had no idea what password it wanted, then I read something about a password set up in settings and I remembered I set up a password in settings for my outlook email, I tried that password and my phone immediately unlocked and functioned normally again.
Kevin B - thank you for the above. I set up Outlook email on my new S22 ultra this week so will bear it in mind when mine next locks up. I've had this problem since I used a train charge socket last November (irrelevant but it never happened to me prior to then). I had a galaxy S10 then. Now got a new S22 ultra and sim but it still continually locks me out, won't recognise any password, and a relative has to re-set the password for me remotely. Ridiculous situation. Are Samsung looking at this?
Do all your devices use the Community driver from @philh30?
@philh30, I bring you into this conversation to get more info about how you handle the events of adding codes to the lock.
Are you using only the default handlers or do you make any other configuration on your side?
Tips: This tool can also bypass the passcode on other locked Android phones including Huawei, Lenovo, and Oneplus. However, it will wipe all data and turn your phone to the factory reset after unlocking. For more tips and tricks, you can visit the Wondershare Video Community.
Samsung security locks comes with Mortise, Deadbolt, RIM types. Mortise models are handle type locks, Deadbolt, rim without handles. Our RIM locks are specially designed for gate and add on lock for doors. Most commonly using models are Mortise, Deadbolt, RIM.
Thanks for trying all those steps already, Salos. We don't have a way to retrieve any passwords set up on your phone for the lock codes or accounts. Based on your description, it sounds as if it may be asking for your Google account password. It's the fallback for many Android-based devices when a lock passcode/pattern/PIN is entered incorrectly too many times. Try logging into Google.com with the Gmail email address you set up as your main account for the phone to ensure you have the correct username and password combination. Then try entering that same information on the phone when prompted. It's important to also make sure the phone is in an area with a good data signal (WiFi or 3G /4G LTE). If you are unable to access the phone using any passwords or PIN that you created, then the reset would be the final step but will result in the loss of the data on your phone.

As an alternative, feel free to visit From there you can force reset your lock pin. If your device is asking you to unlock your sim, that's a different step and you will have to contact cs for assistance.
I recently changed my pin and somehow must have input it incorrectly twice. So when my phone restarted after an update, I couldn't unlock it. If this has ever happened to you, then you know that Samsung quickly extends the wait times between unlock attempts from 5 minutes to several hours or even a whole day.
Try Find My Phone through Samsung. This one has several options, including setting a lock, unlocking, or factory reset. It told me I didn't have remote unlock enabled, so that option didn't work for me and neither did the factory reset (it needs to be able to remote unlock for that). Changing the lock didn't give me access either, so no luck there.
At this point you'll be asked to enter your wifi info as the system recognizes that it was an "unauthorized reset". You'll need to know your google account info to regain access to the phone, and will also need your Samsung account info. I was also asked to enter a code that was sent to my Samsung tablet, so if you don't have any other Samsung devices connected I'm not sure what the steps would be.
This option only works if you own the device and know all the account/login info, otherwise you'll have a fancy paperweight. But it's not unheard of to get locked out of your account, so I thought perhaps this info might be helpful should others find themselves in a similar situation.
One of the best ways to get security and advanced features in a Schlage smart lock is by pairing it with a compatible home automation system. The Z-wave Plus-enabled Schlage Connect Smart Deadbolt works with most Z-Wave smart home hubs, including Samsung SmartThings. Only when you pair your lock with a hub like SmartThings can you control the lock from anywhere, freeing you from the hassles of lost keys, getting locked out and hiding a spare where anyone can find it.
Gone are the days of worrying whether you left the door unlocked when you headed out for the day. Simply check the status of your lock through the SmartThings app. If the deadbolt is unlocked, lock it via the app, no matter where you are, without the need to turn around and go home.
SmartThings allows you to create routines that are triggered by a single action. A goodnight routine, for example, locks the doors, closes the garage and turns off all electronics with a single command. A vacation routine could, again, lock all your doors and adjust the thermostat. Setting up automation with other smart devices is fast and easy since you can do everything directly from your smartphone.
SmartThings offers more peace of mind with your Schlage Connect lock by letting you know precisely when your lock was manually locked or unlocked, if it was unlocked using a code, and when a code was updated or deleted.
Add even more convenience to your home automation set-up by pairing an Alexa-enabled device with Samsung SmartThings. Easily check the status of your deadbolt or command it to lock or unlock by asking Alexa.
