Hi all,

I am trying to install MASTODON in my institute cluster working with CENTOS 6. The procedure which I have followed through the link (https://www.mooseframework.org/mastodon/getting_started/ubuntu.html) giving me errors. Is there any exclusive installation procedure for CENTOS 6 ?,Please help me in this regard.

Thanks

I would say follow the procedure given on the MOOSE website for CENTOS: https://mooseframework.org/getting_started/installation/centos.html. Once you get the MOOSE package up and running, be sure to clone the MOOSE repository and run the test application, and then, installing MASTODON is nothing more than cloning the Github repository (https://github.com/idaholab/mastodon) and compiling the make file. So basically, after following the MOOSE instructions for CENTOS, carry out the instructions given in https://mooseframework.org/mastodon/getting_started/ubuntu.html from "Compile and Tests MASTODON" on.

Thank you Christopher wong,

I followed the procedure given in the MOOSE website, while installing the MOOSE-environment redistributable package following error occured.

error: moose-environment_centos-8.0.1905_20191125_x86_64.rpm: headerRead failed: hdr data: BAD, no. of bytes(25957968) out of range
error: moose-environment_centos-8.0.1905_20191125_x86_64.rpm cannot be installed

Is this error because of Different version?  (My institute cluster is of CENTOS 6 the package given for  CENTOS 8 ), I didn't find the redistributable package for CENTOS 6 on website.

Bhagya, I have a few recommendations:

1.) You should post this issue in the MOOSE groups: https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!forum/moose-users. This is where you can get support in IT/CS topics related to MOOSE. Mastodon developers/users do not handle the install package, it's basically just expected to work! So try to get in touch with the MOOSE guys.

2.) Also try to get in touch with your institute's IT/CS support. Describe to them your problem, and see if there's anything they can tell you about this error.

3.) Check your storage/memory limits for your cluster account. I have no idea what that error means exactly, but the phrase "no. of bytes(25957968) out of range" sounds like some type of data allocation error, although this is only 0.025Gb.

Lastly, if all else fails, look into Ubuntu 18. It is the most reliable Linux OS and it is free (and so is MOOSE for that matter), so you need not be constrained to your cluster machine if you have your own personal one.

Hi Bhagya,

Were you able to install MASTODON yet?
