Compiler doesn't work

Folks, I got a bit of a problem with the complier.
I can't get it to compile anymore:
I make some changes in my scss file. Save it.
The compiler tells me: "No Sass files were modified. Time elapsed 0.0005 seconds".
I compile outside, in my case with Scout. Works like a charm.
What am I doing wrong?

I'm working on localhost (Xampp, Ubuntu), default Joomla installation, 3.72, with the latest Masterbootstrap template.

If you directly touch the scss/template/_custom.scss file, work?

Have you cleared your browser cache?

No, I haven't. Until not too long ago (about a month, I guess) MB worked fine without it.
Is it possible to work without Gulp? I only know about its existence.... I installed it, but it's quite complicated to work with.
I use the MB template mainly because it has an auto compiler build in it. Learning how to Gulp is a lot of extra work to get a template working.

I got it licked. I don't know what went wrong. I deleted the Joomla installation. Did a complete fresh install. Added the MB. Tried it out. Works fine.
