Occupy Salem Free University will host the forum - Occupy Salem Harbor: What’s Next for the People, Land, Water and Air? at 211 Bridge St. in Salem (The 1st Universalist Society of Salem) on July 9 at 7 pm. Now that Dominion has announced the closure of their coal-fired plant in 2014, the community needs to decide what comes next. There appears to be a deal that is already signed, sealed, and delivered to the NJ oil and gas developers Footprint Power to replace it with a gas-fired plant.
Join us for an evening of education and discussion about the future of our harbor. Where’s the vision? Can we “Outgrow the Status Quo” and base our plans on the needs of the community and the planet? Healthlink’s Jan Schlichtmann will speak about Opening the Public Conversation – Working Together Towards a Shared Vision for the Future, along with other community environmental leaders. All are welcomed. For more info call 978-910-0190. FREE.
