Subject: Join a rally to demand that your senators block Trump's cabinet
Dear Daniel,
This Monday, January 9th, people around the country will show up at their senators’ offices to demand that they block Donald Trump’s terrifying cabinet appointments. Can you join them?
The climate movement is organizing the Day Against Denial to put pressure on every single senator to stand up against Trump's reckless picks, focusing primarily on the terrifying climate change-deniers:
- Secretary of State: ExxonMobil’s CEO Rex Tillerson, a top funder of climate denial and attacks on climate action who helped in Exxon's cover up of its climate science.
- Environmental Protection Agency: Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, who spent most of his time in office filing (and losing) lawsuits against the EPA.
- Department of Energy: Former Texas Governor Rick Perry, who is on the board of the company building the Dakota Access Pipeline, and said he wanted to eliminate the agency altogether.
- Department of Interior: Rep. Ryan Zinke, who has been fighting to dig up as much coal, oil, and gas from public lands as possible.
If these men are appointed, “Big Oil” would effectively be in control of our foreign policy, energy policy, and environmental policy. We need to show that people across the country reject them.
You can find a map of demonstrations here and if you don’t see any in your area, there’s a toolkit for organizing one yourself. Sign up today to join the Day Against Denial.
All the best,
