Good Afternoon,
I work in Community Outreach for Camp Edwards, the MA Army National Guard Training Site located on Joint Base Cape Cod. We have an incredibly robust and active Natural Resource Management Program that is that is an essential part of our operations. Unfortunately, the public, even our surrounding communities, are unaware of the work that is being done on our 15,000 acres in the areas of: habitat management, rare plant and animal species conservation, wildland fire, climate resilience, and more. https://www.massnationalguard.org/ERC/natural_resources_overview.htm
We are looking to increase our community outreach
specifically about this work. Our Natural Resources has taken on some outreach,
but they are very busy with their primary tasks in biology and
conservation. We need the support of an Environmental Educator to assist with
our outreach goals.
Currently, we are looking to launch a youth outreach program - connecting with local youth groups (camps/clubs/schools) to create awareness of and share some of the incredibly interesting work that occurs within Camp Edwards Natural Resources program. We would like Environmental Education Project Manager that could work with our Natural Resources staff to create an outreach deliverable, such as presentation or on-base experience. I know it’s a tight timeline, but the goal is to complete outreach with one summer camp group (late Aug?) and then be able to replicate efforts with local schools when the school year resumes. We would really be leaning on this person to take on the development of the “entire package” of this outreach initiative.
