The summer season is slowly but surely starting to wind down as trees start to lose their leaves here, but there's still a good amount of nectar around here for butterflies and other pollinators on sunny days, at least for the time being. I am noticing lots of insect activity on wood asters (Symphyotrichum sp.) here, especially Calico Aster. Two butterfly lists from today and yesterday, including a surprise late-flying Wild Indigo Duskywing today:

9/30/25 - Strawberry Hill - Ipswich, MA

Monarch 2x
Cabbage White 7x
Orange Sulphur 12x
Clouded Sulphur 4x
American Copper 1x

10/1/25 - William Forward WMA (Kents Island) - Newbury, MA

Orange Sulphur 4x
Clouded Sulphur 14x
American Lady 1x
Cabbage White 4x
Wild Indigo Duskywing 1x
Monarch 3x
