Bette Robo and I walked the Meadow Loop at Mountain Meadow in Williamstown this past Saturday (6/27/26). It was a lovely 76 degrees and sunny, with lots of birds active still despite the beginning of the summer lull of bird activity.  The meadow was full of blooming flowers, mostly Spreading Dogbane and Common Milkweed. We were happy to see lots of butterflies, and had nice close views of many species, including two very cooperative Coral Hairstreaks. Thank you again Bette for making the trip out to the Berkshires and for some great conversation!

We saw:

Cabbage White 7x
Coral Hairstreak 2x
Skipper Sp. 3x (one was probably a Peck's Skipper, the other two were perhaps Little Glassywings?)
Silver-Spotted Skipper 5x
Northern Broken Dash 3x
Dun Skipper 2x
Least Skipper 1x
Canadian Tiger Swallowtail 2x
Tiger Swallowtail Sp. 1x
Monarch 1x
Viceroy 1x
Great Spangled Fritillary 14x
Appalachian Brown 1x
Little Wood Satyr 2x
Clouded Sulphur 3x
Sulphur Sp. 1x
