Walked through the Old Game Farm in E. Sandwich today. This can be found where Rte. 6A crosses Scornton Creek, there is a dirt road on the west side of the creek. The game farm is owned by the Dept. of Fisheries and Wildlife and was used to raise game birds for hunting until the 80s. Now it is managed by the Thornton Burgess Society and their volunteers do a wonderful job, perhaps too wonderful as I noticed some late Aug. and early Sept. mowing last summer. It is potentially a great butterfly spot as wooded trails lead to grassy fields. One large field gets late mowing as a result of an agreement with the Dept. for the purpose of protecting nesting ground bird habitat. It is a beautiful spot, T.B.S. does a great job with it and it might be worth a look if you are heading down cape.

I would like to retract the report of 3 8-spotted Forester as I am not sure of the ID.
I extend my apology.
