December caterpillar

1 healthy looking "Wooly Bear" (Isabella Tiger Moth) caterpillar seen today 12/11/22  at Great Meadows in Concord, first cold day of the season:  29° F and cloudy. I watched it move slowly across the path.

I wonder how disruptive warm temps are for over-wintering larvae and adults this late into autumn?
