First, a correction: I saw a Question Mark on 5/26/26 at Lime Kiln Sanctuary in Sheffield, not an Eastern Comma as I reported here earlier. As promised, here are the photos of the Giant Swallowtail I saw then as well.

I've been wishing I've had more time to pay attention to insect life while outside working, but it's not always possible to do so- (especially without binoculars or a camera, and while there's so much to do out on the farm!) Anyways, I drove up to Gould Meadows in Stockbridge today to see the historic Purple Martin pair that began to nest there last year, the first nesting record for the Berkshires in well over a century. The fields there are full of plenty of nectar (lots of buttercups and ragged robin) so there were some butterflies flying today while the sun was out. It was nice to see several Little Wood Satyrs, my first so far this year.
